Tip #1 – Keep The Area Surrounding Your Outdoor Condenser Clean

Most people forget about their outdoor condensers because they are out of sight, and out of mind but the reality is that your outdoor condenser is the most important part of your HVAC system because it’s what brings the cool air into your home during the summer months.

The most important thing that you want to do with your outdoor condenser is to keep the area surrounding it free of leaves, dirt, trash, and other debris because if something is blocking the outdoor condenser, this will make it more difficult for the unit to work properly.

Tip #2 – Make Sure Your Vents Are Not Blocked

Another helpful thing you can to do make sure that your HVAC system is running efficiently this summer is to regularly check the vents in each room of your home to make sure that they are not blocked.

This is important especially with children’s bedrooms because kids sometimes block HVAC vents without thinking about it and the parents are the last to know until they come into their child’s room at night only to find it hot like a sauna.

To avoid vents becoming blocked, it’s best to check each room in your home at least once a week to verify that those vents are all still open and functioning normally.

Tip #3 – Invest In Window Treatments

Does each room in your home have a window treatment? If not, you should invest in window treatments like thermal curtains because this is another helpful thing that you can do to lower the temperature in your home and help your HVAC unit to run efficiently.

Tip #4 – Limit Using Your Oven On Hot Days

Even though you may enjoy baking and cooking meals, during hot days you should consider limiting using your oven because the extra heat from the oven will heat your home faster and your HVAC system will have to work harder to cool your home.
